Harvesting excellence: MyLand appoints agronomist and Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) to further agricultural research and support grower success

January 23, 2024 – Phoenix, AZ — MyLand, a soil health company, announced today that Kelsey Neppel has joined the company’s leadership team as Director of Ag Science to lead MyLand’s Agricultural Science research and development efforts.

In her new role, Neppel will oversee agronomic research related to MyLand’s Soil as a Service® (SaaS). Her efforts will demonstrate the economic returns for growers from improved soil health, which stem from yield improvements, water savings, reduced inputs, nutrient use efficiency, and carbon sequestration. Neppel reports to Bill Mennell, MyLand Principal, Strategy & Analysis.

“We’re truly thrilled to welcome Kelsey to the team. Kelsey is an accomplished agronomist who managed and oversaw crop protection teams, including development and oversight of new projects and related R&D at one of the largest privately owned farms in the western United States. Kelsey will be spearheading the R&D efforts that support MyLand’s growth and allow us to provide exceptional service to our Grower Partners,” said Mennell.

Neppel will lead MyLand’s collaborative research efforts with growers and universities, including the company’s program with Texas A&M AgriLife Research. The study will measure MyLand’s impact on soil health across 12,000 acres of commercial farmland in Texas to address pressing agricultural issues and enhance the quality of life and economic return for growers. In addition to Texas, Neppel will oversee research efforts with strategic partners across the United States, with initial focus in California, Washington, Florida, Arizona, and Idaho. Neppel’s work will help bridge the knowledge gap between microalgae as a building block for healthy soil and its effect on enhancing soil function and crop production.

“I’m excited to join a forward-thinking and innovative company in the agricultural tech space. MyLand is making a positive impact for growers across the country, and I am looking forward to furthering our research efforts, especially in partnership with our growers and collaborative universities,” said Neppel.

As a graduate of Kansas State University, Neppel holds a Bachelor of Science in both Agriculture and Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences. She previously served as the Agronomy Manager at Duncan Family Farms and as a Research and Development Specialist at Bayer CropScience.
