Phoenix Business Journal: MyLand expands to 80 farms nationwide with microalgae technology that cuts water use

The Phoenix Business Journal profiled MyLand’s growth from its early days on a 9,000-acre Del Monte site in southern Arizona to more than 80 farms nationwide. In the article, CEO Dane Hague shares how the MyLand Service uses live, native microalgae to help restore biological activity in the soil, improve nutrient availability, and support water efficiency and crop productivity. The piece also covers MyLand’s collaborations with Arizona State University and the Water Infrastructure Finance Authority of Arizona; Washington State; and Texas A&M AgriLife Research.

“The reason we work with microalgae is it’s the base of the food chain in the soil microbiome,” said Dane Hague, MyLand CEO and Co-Founder. “So the way to think about that is it’s like a probiotic for your gut. It’s creating a healthier gut environment for the soil. And as we’re delivering that microalgae and doing it on a consistent basis, what we have seen is that biologic activity takes off in the soil, and everything gets better.”
